After a too-long hiatus, we are pleased to present over 20 new Beethoven compositions, almost all of which are world premieres. Hess 310 and 312, long-lost and mysterious entries in the Hess catalog finally see the light of day. Willem completes another version of the Goethe lied, Heidenroeslein, which we've catalogued as Gardi 17. A previously-unheard canon, Thuf Auf, Biamonti 752, is also produced by Willem. Numerous requests for the dubiously-attributed "Adieux to the Piano" are answered by a midi of the piece contributed by our Italian friend Armando Orlandi. Yet another version of the March for Wind Band, WoO 19 surfaces to further confuse the Beethoven catalogue of these marches. Drafts from the Fifth and Ninth Symphonies allow comparison to the finished work, and sketches for an unfinished movement to the piano sonata op. 10/3 give a glimpse of what might have been. Gerd Prengel offers realizations of two more movements based on the sketches of Beethoven's last work, WoO 62, which are well worth your consideration. We also are continuing to present mp3 versions of selected pieces, and hope to eventually get all the significant works on the site into mp3 formant using the ever-more-sophisticated sampling software available; our latest favorite, Garritan Personal Orchestra, has allowed us to produce some truly startling realizations. We're not done yet by a long shot; the next update is already well under way with many lost and unheard pieces from Beethoven's middle period hearable for the first time since Beethoven's day. Look for more goodies this winter.
